Since the key fob for a 2000 export model is no longer available (this is what my friend told me) do you think that is it possible to swap the whole EU kit (key fob and receiver) by a US system ?
Can we install a late system on a 2000 model ?
What does this mod. involve ?
BCM reprog ?, TPMS valve replacement ?
Thanks for your help
There is no difference in the FSM between Domestic (USA) and Export with regard to the wiring for this.
The Export uses a difference frequency so not sure if that would affect other things around you. They probably just have different frequencies allocated for that use there.
I doubt anyone will come knocking at your door.
We'll give you back your consultation fee if they do.
One of the Forum vendors offers an upgrade kit that converts the early year cars keyless system to the later year keyless. It is not inexpensive at around $500 US. Kit consists of 2 new FOB's, 4 new TPMS, 1 new receiver, and an adapter to change the wiring connector at the receiver to the needed style. Pretty easy to install and no special programming needed since your car already has a keyless system. I believe it is Cultrag that markets the kit. Should work in an export model but contact them and ask to be certain before purchasing.

So, I have received an answer regarding the Kit and the vendor says it will not fit to an EU model.
I'd like to understand why.
I know that EU model has a different frequency than the US. I don't want to mix US keyfob and EU receiver i.e.
If both the keyfob US and receiver US work with the same frequency why this system will not work ? Does the BCM need to be reprog ?
Thanks to enlighten me
I cannot answer why it will not fit. I can say that the only way the BCM is involved in the keyless remote is by signals sent from the receiver over the serial data buss. No programming required because of a frequency change in the system. Receiver (RFA) also communicates to the IPC via the serial data buss.
Perhaps the seller is concerned about selling transmitters (FOB's and TPMS) for a receiver that does not comply with your countries frequency regulations???
Maybe...

OK, I talked to Gene. He said you never really asked the question as to whether his upgrade would work in the car. He seemed to say you wanted to get Euro parts which are not available or use Domestic parts with your car which we already said would not work.
His upgrade will work for your car. Use of a Domestic frequency in the Euro area is your issue to deal with.

You either need to order it or just don't.
Mr. Sam
Hi Mr. Sam,
I maybe wasn't very clear on that point, sorry...
We don't want to order Euro part since the key fob is no more available.
The only possibility would be to order and to install a US receiver, 4 US TPMS and 2 US keyfob.
The US frequency is not an issue, my Z is of course full US stock and is straight with french rule of road.
I'm going to push your answer to my friend and he will take his own decision.
Thanks anyway for your involvement
the US system works perfectly (keyfob and receiver) on EU Corvette
My friend has just changed the connector because of the new design, made a keyfob programming and it works.
His car is no more equiped with TPMS, so no problem on that side.
