'02 Z06 check engine light

Default '02 Z06 check engine light
My brother-in-law has a '02 Z06 that he will be selling soon. I told him he needed to find out about the check engine light if he wants top dollar. Car has only 8,300 miles. He bought it almost new and the dealer told him after he bought it not to worry about it so he didn't but forgot why. He said when it comes on (intermittent) it will stay on for about 40 miles and go out.

Anybody have a clue about this?

You have to have the trouble codes to identity the problem. You can pull them using the dic in the car.

Agree! Without the codes, we can't help you. The dealer was wrong by the way. He definitely needs to worry about it. It's on for a reason which may or may not be serious.

Probably 02 sensors... not a expensive or difficult fix.

The car has a built in computer that will give you the trouble codes read the codes disregard any of the that start with the letter H.

Clear your codes then go for a drive... when you get back home, PULL the codes BEFORE you SHUT THE CAR OFF... then post them here.

Glad it worked out for you. It is extremely rare that we get false CELs. Any dealer that says not to worry about a lit CEL is bull$hitting you.
