I have owned this car for five years with same sound system in it. The car only gets drive on the weekends and I have never had any type of battery or starting problem with it until recently over the last two months the battery going dead, I had it tested it was old and needed to be replaced, purchased a $200 autozone dura last battery three days later dead again had alternator tested 1 diode was bad replaced it, 3 days later dead, took it to a corvette mechanic he said starter problem replaced it . DIC says charging system fault rev it and fault goes away but every 3 days dead battery I need help to fix this problem
i have the same exact issue with the error popping up and it not charging once i start the car. i rev it up to about 2000 rpms and it starts charging. it doesnt do this everytime either.
I worked on a problem recently with the alternator not charging until you revved the engine. It was an alternator that would not "flash" the stator to start charging.
Will try to find that Thread for you. In his case he "thought" his charging problem was the alternator and replaced it with one that was not compatible with the C5 PCM to flash the field. His original issue was the at the starter connection and he created a problem so he had to fix his original issue and then fix the one he created. We finally got it sorted out when he bought an AutoZone alternator that worked. He had gone thru 2 or so from his previous auto store before he went to AutoZone.
thanks for posting that up. the alternator i got is from oreileys. looks like i'll be taking it back. prior to the oreileys one i got one from autozone but it only charged for me until i hit 6000rpms after i put it on. the first time i reved it up the alternator quit all together. thats why i went with the oreileys one. my original problem was the voltage was dropping off quite a bit after i got the car good and warmed up
