Default New LS7 clutch issue

My 99 C5 just had it's clutch replaced with the LS7 along with pilot bearing, slave, new master and a speed bleeder by a friend who's also a very good mechanic.

It all works well except that it engages about an inch or so from the floor. I know this isn't normal and it feels strange. The old clutch grabbed high but it was original with 126,000 miles on it.

I need advice on what needs to be done or is something wrong with a piece of the new parts. Like I said it works fine and there aren't any noises or anything out of the ordinary. All the parts were replaced with OE. Thanks

It will be just fine after a couple of hundred of miles. I have put in 3
On different cars, & they all were catching off the bottom.

So you're saying it will grab higher over the course of time ?

They adjust themselves. As long as the pedal feels goo just drive it until it moves to where it needs to be. Give it 500miles.

ls7 clutch needs a slave shim or it will grab low. Either install an adjustable master or tear it back down to install the shim.

actually doesn't

ram makes an adjustable slave that's just an OEM with a threaded rod. it's a little over $100 and lets you place engagement where you want it

drive it 1k miles and see if it improves, if it doesn't buy the ram

Did you replace all components ? Pilot, slave, master, along with the clutch and flywheel ?

I had an LS7 clutch installed with Tick MC etc. Initially like you I thought it needed adjustment because of how low it engaged. I was told the same thing about time, putting a little mileage and usage to allow the clutch to break in. After about a month, the engagement point was back at stock range. Clutch is one of the best upgrades you can make for an MN6. Never have to worry about the pedal on the floor issues.

I had no issues with the LS7 clutch or pedal feel- only reason I changed was I went to an SC set up and needed an application to handle the extra HP. Good luck to you!

Thanks that's comforting to know. I hope it works out that way for me. I don't want to go through taking things apart again. I'm trying to drive as much as I can but winter is closing in and I'll probably not be where I want it to be before I put it away until spring.
