Does anyone get this error before and what is it????
Thanks
I had this two times last week, when I started the car in the morining.
Everything is stock on the electrical system. I may have to bring it in.

Could you please keep me updated since I got extended warranty with 200$ deductable so I may not bring it in now and wait until couple problems and then bring it in ;)
Thanks
Re: "Charge System Fault" error on DIC (MEDVETTE99)
I think I know the problem ... maybe battery is low
Today, after start the car, the "charge system fault" flashing on my DIC and just stay on ... I looked around the meter and found that the batery meter showed below 13 Volts (it was actually just about 9 Volts). I then drove the car for about a minute and the battery meter got up slowly to 13 Vlots and then the error message gone.
I am not sure the battery problem or the alternator problem.
Will take the battery to Autozone to check this weekend.

I have seen this message twice now. I, too, have just gutted the audio system and have installed a custom system. Voltage meter showed 13 volts both times. Is this seriuos??

I don't think below 13V has to do with this error msg on the DIC.
Lately, my DIC just keeps giving me those error and all the time the Battery was over 13V !!!
We gotta wait until TXSTICK bring his car to the dealer to see what is going on !!!
Re: "Charge System Fault" error on DIC (mike76002)
I posted this problem a couple of weeks ago and did not get any positive answers. I am taking mine in to the dealership this week to get it checked out when I get it serviced. I'll let you know if they find anything.
Re: "Charge System Fault" error on DIC (mike76002)
This message is most often associated with some sort of battery condition. I used to get it and finally checked out my battery. Discovered it was bad, changed it, and have had no problems since. OEM batteries don't usually last all that long. I got just 2 1/2 years out of mine.
When replacing a C5 battery, I think it is a good idea to get one of the new AGM glass matt batteries (Delco & Optima have them) to avoid the leaking acid problem that some have encountered. Mine was leaking but had just started and had not caused any damage.
Re: "Charge System Fault" error on DIC (redriverjohn)
I too received "charge system fault" messages on my 1999 C5 coupe (built 8/98). The dealer technician was stumped and telephoned Chevrolet Technical Assistance.
The technician was instructed to inspect several ground locations on and near the starter, underneath the battery tray. He found several ground studs that were corroded and the nuts were loose. He cleaned the locations and tightened the nuts on the studs. That eliminated the "charge system fault" mesages.
The technician told me that Chevrolet Technical Assistance immediately knew what the problem was (and solution) when he called them. The technician felt that the nuts were not tightened properly when the car was built, causing them to loosen and create a ground problem. (Please note that my car was built after the infamous UAW work stoppage at Bowling Green).
You should check the ground locations - good luck.
