Default mild build opinions wanted

I have a 98 auto. I have a 2800 stall tc and 3.42 gears. now I`m going to do 799 heads an ls6 intake and a vararam I`m leaning toward comp cam with 216/222@.050 with 111.0 lobe seperation. 561 /566lift. I only drive on the street. I want something reliable and fun. Is this a good cam choice? any guesses on rwhp. I also have a corsa catback. I do not want to use headers

Do a search on Texas speed 224r cam. Plenty of guys run them and love it. Drives like stock but has good power. I think the cam your looking at is a little to small for all the effort.

I would look at less aggressive lobes and stay away from XER type lobes. Have you considered the two GM cams, Hot cam and the ASA cam. Nice torque curves, very lopey and not very aggressive lobes.

I've installed several of LG G5/G6 X3 cam kits and have had great success. Big cam that is very streetable. Expect 75hp gain from just the cam.

This is probably the cam I will use. http://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomete...k-results.html Unless the company that supplies my heads says differently. Plus it is a quiet cam no sewing machine noise, with less aggressive ramps for longer life of springs. There is nothing wrong with the cam you picked either, it will be a good driver all around. Good Luck. Ron B.

How does it drive? The #'s aren't high but you were going for a mild build per the name of this thread.

I also went with a mild build, my builder tried talking me into 450+ rwhp build but I wanted 400 and to keep it milder than wilder. 226/228 114, PRC stage 2.5 6.0L heads, new oil pump, timing chain, lifters, etc. I got 405 rwhp & 370 tq - low by most h/c builds but I love it.

At first I was thinking I should have gone more aggressive but after putting about 1500 miles on and learning how it drives now I realize I made the perfect decision not to go anymore aggressive. My wife doesn't like the new lope and shake & the car is just too raw and mean for her..... but man do I love it!
