Default bore the block or leave it

I have my car (02 Z06) all apart and block, crank, rods and pistons at the machine shop and wondering if i should just go forged rods and pistons while its there?

Machine shop said it all checks out good, crank is maybe a little undersized but would be ok and bore looks good. Just a littel scared because i threw the idea of forged at him and said if i do that to bore it but he said .030 over and that seems huge bore for an LS block?

Car is going to be a street car/once a month or so road race car, 246/252 cam, LT headers, heads are on the way to advanced induction now for the 226cnc port job.

What are you guys thoughts on suggested bore to go forged? or should i just leave it and ring and bearing it? get factory sized forged pistons?

The block will need to be sized to allow for the expansion characteristics of forged pistons. The factory sets up the stock clearances pretty tight and I'm not too sure that just replacing the stockers with forged replacements will work. The rest of the bottom end should be fine for what you need unless you just want to spend the money on some higher end upgrades. Plus, re-balancing the entire reciprocating assembly will be required. That's a lot of work and $$$ for what you are wanting.

cool thanks, machine shop is going to get back to me today about the pistons. Ill probable end up using those for now with the katech rod bolts and enjoy the car. Only had it a month have about 6k into it so far with trans, clutch, master, wheels and tires and now the motor work. Going to just run it and save for a LS3 swap i think

.010" max overbore for that block.
Your machinist should know that......

If bores are ok, leave it alone.
