Re: Who has disabled their running lights ? (BLUTHUNDER)
The option on your DIC is for the approach lights. I don't like the fact that they will burn out quicker. And jacking that thing up (lowered) and pulling off that panel and sticking my big hand in there to change it out is not something I want to do often. I have the blackouts on these, and I'm not taking those off!

Camaros and Firebirds also have the the same lights so Vettes are not the only ones that have them. I know this and so do all the cops. Mine are black for good. :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:  :seeya
Re: Who has disabled their running lights ? (Big Casino)
When I had my GT I hated to see those lights coming up behind me. It meant only one thing. "A VETTE WAS COMING QUICK"
Now I watched those lights in envy for 3 years. You think I am going to unplug them?
Clint
Not that my car is hard to see but i believe they do help prevent accidents. The point about attracting police attention is valid though, but theres nothing like a bright yellow vette coming up behing somebody with those lights to get them outta the way (well, maybe a viper :D )
Re: Who has disabled their running lights ? (luvinc5)
With DRL, you are basically waving a huge flag to the cops "Here I am, here I am".
Dude if you are that worried about the cops seeing you. You probably shouldn't have bought a RED CORVETTE! Turning off the DRL's aren't going to make that much difference. You should buy a blue Camary. :D
Re: Who has disabled their running lights ? (Big Casino)
There are many peices to the puzzle to keep from getting tickets. One of many is not to advertise you are coming toward a cop. Most tickets are generated as a car approaches the cop, not driving away. So red or not, cam and heads or not, loud or quiet, it matters little. So turning off your DRL's is just one small piece of the puzzle. Mine are black for good. :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :seeya :seeya
Re: Who has disabled their running lights ? (evil-1)
I run 1000 C5 freeway miles a week and my practice is to just rotate the light switch one notch up to the parking light position... This turns off the running lights and is even easier than pulling fuses... And everything works properly...

Re: Who has disabled their running lights ? (MrEracer)
.... ..Isn't that defeating the purpose of saving bulb life during day time driving, now your running more bulbs if I understand you, Draw more attention.
How has your C5 held up putting those kind of miles on it? How many miles on it now ?
