Mine is stock exhaust with a Corsa extreme, due to an ear problem I just couldn't risk any drone--and there isn't any. Although they sound a little like a motor boat sometimes, other people say they sound awesome. People say even with headers, which may happen someday, still no drone. I like that you can hear the car at the track. They are pretty quiet when you want to be but really bellow and echo off the mountains when it's wot. I'm also an involuntary citizen of NY, if you were close you could pop them on and try them--I'd like to confirm that combo myself.
<br >I just posted thread about j pipes I build for c5...they work, and u get straight thru flow...no secrets...part of all no drone muffler including the stock ones have this closed chamber to cancel drone. The picture is taken before I plug the ends of the j pipes!

Looks cool and probably does solve the drone problem, but with no muffler it's going to be too loud for most. Mufflers are required by law where I live, so it's also not street legal. If you could find room for mufflers and the drone canceling technology you have a winner.
U will be surprised how much of the sound is gone...the j pipes are ur mufflers...this is what corsa mufflers du but they are in different shape...here is pic of corsa

Thanks a lot everyone. I don't mind a loud mean sounding exhaust but will the xtremes be louder inside the car than the pace car? How's the drone with the magnaflows?
Corsa xtreme is made to be louder than the pace. So naturally they will be. I may need to make you a video. I have LG Street headers, LG's off road X-pipe(btw not using corsas crossover pipe does make it even more aggressive and a tad deeper), and a healthy cam. Now I will say my tone will sound different than most because its a 418ci and not a 346ci. On contrary belief, it does change the sound. Its loud and mean! No drone, just a not so quite cabin. Cruising around you will be able to carry on a conversation with ease. I will say though once you cam it, forget trying to talk to anyone in a drive-thru
Here is a video of a run I made with my wife at 2am on a dead empty, 6 lane 3mi straight stretch. This is what my car sounded like, and for the most part still does today with the new motor. I did have hi flow cats in this vid just fyi.
You're right about the no-drone aspect being a common trait, I was thinking more along the lines of these companies having more than one system to choose from.
Sound is definitely a HUGELY personal thing of course and it's difficult, at best, when trying to recommend a cat-back set-up without hearing each one first and even then, thing's vary a great deal depending on the engine size, header/x-pipe choice, choice of particular brand, etc, etc.
The best way is to go to car club meets or shows and hear them for yourself. That, obviously, can be very time-consuming.
