I am replacing all A/C components. I have disassembled and flushed everything already. My new Delphi compressor came pre loaded with 2 oz of oil in it. I have read the system has a total of 9 oz. If I put in 2 oz of oil in the accumulator and 2 oz in the condenser as I have read is the proper amounts per service manual, then that leaves still 3 oz short. Is that because that amount is trapped in the evaporator inside the car? Do I need to flush the port coming out of the firewall as well? Then put 3 oz in the hole in the firewall?
Thanks for the help in advance> This site is PRICELESS!!
Chad.
You should drain and measure the oil from removed components.
See what your difference is. Generally the compressor comes with instruction to drain old compressor and if total is XX amount do not add any
If less than XX add only so much.
Here's a handy resource
Some will remain trapped in the evaporator and in the dryer you remove.
Remember adding too much refrigerant can have a negative cooling effect.
