first motor build and i need help...
What's going on guys, I am doing my first motor build and kind of messed up a little bit. I was installing a new camshaft from comp, and after I got it in I realized there was no dowel pin in the end of the cam for the timing gear.
So my question is what should I do from here? Can I knock the pin in while the cam is in the block or should I take it out?
thanks
Anthony

I would not not drive the cam with a hammer or anything else with the cam in the block it could damage the journals on the cam or the cam bearings. You sure you didn't install it backwards and the dowel isn't on the other side?

If you haven't done so don't forget to lather the cam in assembly lube.

I'd take it out. I wouldn't want to risk damaging anything.

When in doubt pull it out.
I kind of think it's in there backwards too.

There's a WELSH plug at the other end of the cam.. If you strike it, it will POP OUT!

The rear cover is at the other end. There is no plug like the old small block.
