no comms, windows wont roll down, wont start please help.
Well I've been searching for a couple hours and haven't figured this out yet, I'm sure it's happened before just can't find it. 01 manual no mods, getting no comm on the codes, Windows won't roll up or down, won't start. I moved the cables and it started but died after a few seconds. Went and had the battery checked its good cleaned the cables and now it won't do anything again. Tried wiggling the accordions in the doors just to see if that would help and nothing. Checked the floor around the bcm and not wet with no signs of water. Any thoughts or ideas would be much helpful. And a weird noise from the passenger side speaker.Thanks.

THIS,,,,,,,,,,,,, is a TOUGH ONE! No COMMS on everything. BCM looks dry.. STAR CONNECTOR isolation shows NOTHING. Battery is fine.
Thinking its a power issue and could be an IGNITION SWITCH reltaed issue
He is getting a multimeter to check some voltages//

NO PROBLEM my friend.. Glad to able to lend a hand.
Did a TON of PRIMARY FUSE voltge readings to rule out voltage issues to the PCM/BCM.. ALL modules NO COMS! Found NOTHING WRONG on seril data buss!
No WET BCM.. NO idenifable serial data buss issues... Jumped the PCM to BCM data buss with junper.. NO CHANGE!
COULD BE A voltage issue to BCM/PCM...
Battery voltage went SOUTH quickly SO,,,,, I recommended that he have the battery recharged and properly tested.
He should reinstall the battery tomorrow reinstall battery and report results.
I have to go to work (Submarines NEVER SLEEP ),, come home and PREP for the east coast SNOW STORM. Then I will call and see where we left off.

Once you get the battery issue ironed out, put it back in and see where you stand.. If you have the SAME symptoms, disconnect the Negative battery terminal, remove the BCM from holder in the foot well and remove each connector from the BCM..
EXAMINE each connector and look for damaged pins in the BCM and in each harness connector.
Then, OPEN the BCM shield box. The BOX really isn't meant to be opened but,,,, it will open. Carefully bend the top open and LOOK at the circuit board.
NOTE!!!!!!! BE CAREFUL as the circuit board is Electro Static Discharge Sensitive (ESD) and if you ZAP it with static electricity, it can damage the circuits.
Being careful remove the board from the box (ONE SCREW) and look for crusty white deposits on the bottom of the circuit board. IF,,,,,,,,, You have any, obtain some ALCOHOL and a TOOTH BRUSH and scrub off all the deposits.
Here is what the deposits will look like if there are any. They can be a lot worse that the little bit that I had on my 98s BCM.. Sometimes, that's all it takes to make the BCM UNHAPPY!
If you don't have any deposits, reinstall the board back in the box, plug it back in and reconnect the battery and see where you stand.
Report back the results.

Yeah I checked a couple, this happened once before after a rain so likely something got wet. Mr. Bill pointed me to the pcm so I'm gonna check that out.

Went out and found moisture by the bcm and it cranked right up. It's been sitting in the sun for awhile now. Gonna try and clean out the drains and hopefully it won't happen again. Thanks for all the input hopefully this will help someone else who may have the same problems later on.

Now that I've got acquainted a little more with these electronics anyone have any advice on washing the motor? Kinda nervous now about getting any water near it.

Its ALIVE!!!!!!
Looks like there was some moisture in the BCM after all... Most likely caused by a clogged HVAC Drain or some other leak. Looking for that now.

On a MORE SERIOUS note,, Some WRAP UP LESSONS LEARNED.
The initial symptoms were typical SERIAL DATA BUSS corruption symptoms. In a dark isolated parking lot, the damp BCM was most likely missed,
Even though we did ALL the normal serial data buss isolations and troubleshooting techniques, there were still weird BCM /PCM issues.
We checked all the BCM/PCM Power & Grounds ALL checked out correct.
BCM HYDROPHOBIA!!!!! Thats all it was to it!

And as I joke around go back out to crank it and same results. It did run for a min or so and I checked all the codes and no comm.

I didn't see anyone post the link to the clogged udders pictures that BC posted year ago so here goes:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...ak-checks.html
Udders on the wiper well drains (both sides of the car) are often clogged on cars the age of even the newest C5 and as Bill mentioned, while checking the wiper well drains, don't forget to check the drain for the AC condensate....
