Re: My own front frame savers...... (sweetcharity)
Exactly what I have prepared in my garage but not installed yet. We call it here " Delrin "
I will fix it with two band clamps to avoid to bore holes into the frame.
I´m glad someone else had the same idea.
Good luck

C5 Frederick...Actually Delrin is a bit harder material and somewhat less flexable but it should work fine. I have seen Delrin in various colors (mostly blue) but UHMW only in white. Although someone else posted that it is also availble in various colors. Here's to working ideas
Re: My own front frame savers...... (sweetcharity)
sweetcharity:Thanks for the idea & info I plan to use your mod on my car . I didnt like the idea of drilling thru the frame rails to mount wheels seems to me it might weaken the rails.
thanks
I made my own frame saving rollers as a do-it-yourself hobby thing. Bases are formed and welded 310 Stainless Steel that put the load at the bottom of the frame rails, not through a bolt in the middle. Crossbolt axel is a 5/16" dia. aircraft bolt of Inconnel 718. This screws into a flanged bronze bushing on which runs an aluminum wheel. All materials are corrosion resistant, so I never have to worry about rust. Wheel was painted black, but soon wore off making it unsightly shinny metalic. I'm looking for a black plastic material like Polypropolene to either make new wheels or tires for the existing ones. They work just fine. :yesnod:
I visited a couple of hardware stores and didn't find the UHMW tape, but I did find "Magic Sliders" at Home Depot. Patented and trademarked strips about 1" wide and 4" long, backed with rubber. I have some extra-strong double-sided tape stashed somewhere in this pig-sty I call home. I'll post pix when I get a chance. They're not the snazziest color - a kinda greyish bluish shade, but better than the scraped up mix of black and rusting brown that's on my rails, now.
I'll stick with the A&A Frame Savers and Rocker Rails! Oh , wait a minute I'm A&A. Never mind.
BTW: the combo is still on sale. Hard to beat for the price. ( shameless plug)
:yesnod: :yesnod: Thanks for the thanks! I guess I should have made a pile of them and offered them out there!!! Mine have also been tested twice :mad but are unmarked so far.
