Help figure this out????
I have owned this car for 2 years, and bought it from the Widow of the previous owner. SO I just had to buy with no info on the car.
I find these relays, and they seem to be going to the headlights, and possibly the headlight motors, not sure yet. but the car seems to have all factory lights, nothing fancy,,,,,,,, SO WHY THE RELAYS & HARNESS?
Corvettes built for export were outfitted with a higher-quality headlight because the overseas standards are more stringent. Along with the E-code headlight housings, there is an option to increase bulb wattage from the standard 55W to 90/100W. The 90/100W bulb required a beefier headlight harness, which has to be added. (I'm pretty sure the E-code lights only came OEM with 55W.) It looks like the previous owner installed that harness, and if he did, then most likely he also installed 90/100W bulbs.
There's a picture of the harness I think you're asking about at the bottom of the page here:http://www.pfyc.com/VT1003.html
If that's the case, in my opinion, you've got the best headlight set-up available bar none. The E-code parts are all made in USA, Germany, or Sweden; everything is OEM. There are no dubious-quality Chinese/Taiwanese parts in this rig (like the entire HID/"Bi-Xenon" stuff sold elsewhere by aftermarket vendors). Of all the alternative bright lighting available, you'll be happy to know that E-code is the only set-up recommended by Daniel Stern, if that counts for anything to you.
The harness has no connection to the headlight motors, just the headlights.

This is what is on my car, I just don't know why?
Maybe someone here can give me some insight.
Thanks, Mark
Thank you, I think we posted at the same time.
I am sure you are correct, I will check the bulbs when I get home this afternoon. I will say the lights do not seem to be any brighter than a stock bulb. If they are stock, I should be able to remove the harness I would think, do you agree?

If the wiring itself is intact, correct and functional, and the lenses are E-code, I wouldn't remove the harness, I'd check the bulbs for wattage. There will be etched/scribed markings on the metal bulb housings declaring their wattage. If they're 55W, after confirming the electrical wiring is good, I'd install 90/100W's. If they're already 90/100W, I'm at a loss; it could be that they're not aligned correctly.
If your statement, "I will say the lights do not seem to be any brighter than a stock bulb." is a comparison between 'stock bulb(s)' on the c5 and some non-Chevy recently-built vehicle, I'd say leave them be but check your lamp alignments. If these are 90/100W casting light "equal" to some other vehicle's OEM light cast, they are most likely not aligned correctly.
If you're comparison is between two c5's, one being your own which is 'not' any brighter than a stock bulb, my expectation would be that the E-code headlights have 55W bulbs installed. After validating (see PM) the set up, I'd increase to 90/100W.
