My rear Goodyear EMT's have about had it while my fronts
are still in good shape. Has anyone run different brands of
runflats at the same time? Like SZ50's at the rear and GY EMT's
at the front?
The tires handle differently. The SZ50s have a lot more traction so you might be OK running that combo with them in the rear but I would not do it for long.

I would never run different brands of runflats front and rear. If you check the inside edge of your present tires you may well find that they are cupped. My fronts were cupped bad enough with 6/32" tread left that the tire store refused to sell them as used tires and insisted they should discard the tires.

The sidewall of the Firstone tire is not as stiff as the Goodyear EMT (hence the smoother ride). This alone would cause the tires to have vastly different handling characteristics. I would imagine that this combination would produce a real "squirrely" feeling ride and a down right dangerous handling condition. I have the Firehawk SZ50EP RFTs on my car and like them very much, but INMO mixing brands and construction types is a real bad idea.

I don't think that would be a good idea. These tires have a totally different response to side forces.

All good points... however, if you are positive you'll not be replacing the Goodyear EMT's then you have nothing to loose by installing the SZ50's on the back and driving it for a couple of days... if you find that the handling is compromised you should go ahead and replace the fronts with SZ 50's (if that is your runflat replcement of choice) I replaced all four of my GY's with the Firestone SZ50 RFT's and was completely satisfied with the swap. I found them to be much quieter and better traction/adhesion even though the contact patch is a bit smaller than the Goodyears...
The Vette has Active Handling and Traction Control with sensors that are calibrated to the width of the tires you have. Having tires of different properties will screw this system.

I have to respectfully disagree on this. The computer factors in things such as Yaw, steering angle, and wheel speed differential but doesn't care much about tire size and E.T.C it's just going to trigger brakes and throttle control.
