Default Drl issue

98 c5

When the headlights are turned on, the left Drl turns off, the right stays on.
When the headlights are switched off both Drls work normally.

Any advise would be appreciated

Thank you

Did you check for a burnt out bulb?

Do the front turn signals work correctly when HLs are ON and OFF?

Try swapping the DRL relays (I/P relays 38 and 40) and see if the issue swaps from one side to the other.

It has nothing to do with the DRL system not working. The DRL's turn off and the running lights turn on once you turn the headlight switch to either position which means one of the running lights isn't working. So, check the bulb first.

This would be correct if his description is wrong.

Of course his description is wrong. What's really happening is that the turn signal filaments, which are also used for the DRL function, are going off on BOTH sides when the headlights are turned on. But, the running light filament on ONE side is not coming on. I bet if he actually paid attention he'd realize the side that is still working is duller when the headlights are turned on.

Every time someone complains that the DRL goes out with the headlights or the DRL goes out when the headlights are turned off, it's really the wiring to one of the filaments or one of the filaments in the bulb.

Popped the bulb out, put a new one in. Worked. But now left turn signal is hyper flashing. weird ok so now I'm like well let's try the first one again maybe it's a connection issue, I noticed a ton of bulb grease or bulb lube on the socket and bulb itself, wiped it off, works perfectly now =)

Thank you for your ideas

-Cheers
