I have a '97, manual transmission with 80K. I've cleaned the air filter, MAF, throttle body, put in new plugs/wires and new o2 sensors all around.
When the car is idling you can feel the car shake every couple of seconds, it's nothing extreme and its not like the car is going to stall, but still noticeable. It doesn't seem to matter if the car is in neutral, or in gear with my foot on the clutch. I also never see the RPMs fall. Is this normal?
I was also hoping someone could chime in on the conditions of my old plugs. Should I be concerned about the residue on the plug threads?

The newer iridium plugs are spec'd at 40 thousands of an inch rather than the 65 thousands of an inch for the old platinum plugs. I understand they are going back to platinum again for economic reasons. You can see from the gaps of the old plugs they are WAY wide.
Perhaps re-gap the new plugs down to .040.
My '98 used to shake and stumble at idle in traffic. I retired so it doesn't ever idle in traffic anymore. Could try that too.
Mine shudders a bit off and on, i have changed just about everything involved with the ignition cycle aside from coils. I don't think it necessarily means there is a problem, just nature of the beast.
another thing.... is your a/c on? you could possibly be feeling the a/c clutch engaging. i had some weak motor mounts and would feel the clutch kick every time due to the increased load.

I don't feel any hesitation or skipping, and hardly ever use the a/c. I purchased this car about a year ago and it needed some TLC. I've done a fair amount of work to it, and just looking to make sure everything is back in working order.
