Default 2002 Corvette with HVAC NO-COMM

My Corvette's HVAC unit has been randomly loosing power. It is acting like there is a short but tbh I have no idea where I should start looking...

Can someone recommend a good Corvette mechanic in the Plano/Frisco TX area or have some ideas on where to look for the issue?

Thanks

Start by inspecting fuses 18 and 27 in the I/P fuse box.

Mr. Sam
Thanks for the suggestion... Unfortunately the fuses are fine. It's intermittent so I don't really think it is a fuse.

Not sure.. tbh Since the issue came up I haven't driven it... It's been sitting since last summer but I want to get it fixed now. If the carpet is wet what could be the issue?

Thanks

I just drove it around 20 miles and no wetness on the passenger side. BTW the lights on the HVAC work it's just the display and the actual heating / cooling that is not working.

Your IGNITION SWITCH supplies power for a number of KEY ON powered modules. Find the fuses for that module. Actually use a DC Volt Meter and measure the voltage that is being supplied to that modules FUSES when the KEY is turned ON!! There are two TEST SLOTS on top of every fuse. Measure the test slots to a proven chassis ground! You "SHOULD" have full battery voltage on those fuses. If not, the ignition switch is suspect.

They are KNOWN problem areas!

I went and tested both post of each fuse in hood fuse box here is what I saw:

14+ Volts: 2,3,4,7,13,14,16,17,18,19,22,23,24
0.22 Volts: 5
0.17 Volts: 15
0 Volts: 1,6,8,9,10,11,12

On the passenger side fuse box all were 14+ Volts except:
14: 0 Volts
17, 18, 21: 0.12 Volts

Here are the codes I'm currently throwing:

10-PCM: P0135, P0141, P0155, P0166, P1571, P1689
28-TCS: NO-COMM
40-BCM: B0432
58-SDM: U1040
99-HVAC: NO-COMM

I've been having issues with my Traction Control so that maybe a real code. My O2 Sensors are new, but my vette did sit for a year so I'm not sure if it's related to my issues though.

Thanks

HVAC Fuse 18 in the I/P fuse box should be full battery voltage at all times. Not sure it would cause a No Comm for the HVAC though. That is the only issue I see with your info.

Mr. Sam
Incase someone else sees this... It turns out all the problems were due to a bad ignition switch.

Thanks everyone for your help.

DAMN IM GOOD!

I wonder how I knew that????

VERY COMMON ISSUE. I wish more people would do the FUSE VOLTAGE CHECK instead of JUST the FUSE VISUAL CHECK.

My 2002 C5 had issues of throwing codes, would not start when it would start it would shut off driving down the road.I could not find problem, took it to dealer they said it was the ignition switch, and the battery. A $1000.00 bucks later, the car starts fine and does not shut off while driving. But now I have codes popping up Hvac TCS Service vehicle soon and a few others "No Comm" just like I have been reading about.I did not have these codes pop up with the previous problem. Any ideas, and of course dealer hasn't returned my call.

And I'm sure the dealer won't be calling you back any time soon unfortunately...best way to diagnose "no comms" is with a scan tool that talk to all the modules...all 12 !!...you would see which module you can't communicate with and that's the bad one...can simply be a bad power or ground to that module !!...if for some reason you had lost a ground for instance on a module the power can back feed through the serial data network and try to find a ground somewhere...it will take the path of least resistance...and the result is usually a no start or start and stall !!
