When I bought my 40k mile ZO6 about a month ago the owner of the dealership who is a Corvette guy and has a C6 himself told me Vettes are known for being hard to put into gear due to the clutch fluid getting dirty or something... He said when that happenes to suck it out with a turkey Baster thing and put new fluid... That's all I remember him telling me... Can someone explain this to me more in detail if I missed a step please? Thanks
it's driving great just sometimes hard to go into 2nd gear, instead it gos into 4th...id like to know what to do when I need to change the fluid...
That is exactly how skip shift works. If you are not at least 20mph in 1st gear, if forces a 1 to 4 shift. Next time that happens and won't go into second leave it in neutral, release the clutch and then press the clutch again. It will go into 2nd..
I'll look up the exact description in an electronic copy of the owner manual and post it back in this post.....
I really appreciate your help...is it just me or do others not like this 1 to 4 shift crap? Lol
Nope, $25 and about 15 minutes (most of that driving the car on ramps and finding the right spot). Lots of vendors here sell skip shift eliminators, but you will still see the dash warning.
The best way is to have a tuner do it so you don't get the 1-4 light on your dash. Many start with the former and switch to the latter when they do something that requires a tune.

I have a skip shift eliminator, if you want it cover shipping and you can have it... I have hptuners so I don't need it anymore... as far as the dirty clutch fluid goes, do it right and get a speed bleeder... I am not a fan of attempting to clean it out with a turkey baster
