Default Odd temp issues

Hey all,

My car has run around 235-240 all winter here with normal daily driving which I always thought was very hot. This past weekend, I took the car on a good drive and got it passed 5500 RPMs once. Then I noticed the needle pegged to the red and the dash displayed coolant over temp" but was able to keep driving about a mile before pulling over. When pulling over, I popped the hood and everything seemed fine, it did not feel incredibly hotter than usual, no smoke. No coolant boiling over, etc.

It still runs at about 240 daily. Is this an issue with a sensor? Or signs of something? Considering how long its been I cant imagine its actually overheating, but I'm afraid to find out.

To me 240 is too warm. I would clean out your rad and AC condenser. They get really dirty and the air can not get thru. I would check coolant level and go for a short drive and see if it improves.

Thanks for the two-cents. I put a few water bottles in it to get to the store and got a bottle of 50/50 prestone GM for it. It took the entire bottle. Not sure why it was so low.

I do remember a few times seeing a large puddle of grease looking liquid below the area where the fill is but never thought anything of it being related to coolant because it was not green. Looking between the motor and the tank you can see its very wet, maybe leaking or something then falling down on the ground. Not sure why.
