Window Seal Disaster
A few years back I had my car in a dealership collision center getting some insurance work done. After I got it back it was missing numerous parts and others were broken. The window blowout clips were some of the missing ones. I had to take the car back to them four or five times to try and fix a leak.
Fast forward to now and I am finally getting around to replacing the blowout clips; well trying to replace them. My seals are shot thanks to the dealer adjusting the window so tight that it ripped them. I got some replacements from VetteNuts along with the clips and hardware. Tonight was the night to replace them.
Long story short, there is so much black goo on the car that I bent my window seal retainers and am in need of replacements. While I was at it I decided to go ahead and take the plastic trim off as well. I want to start fresh.
I am looking for any tips or advice to help me replace these parts so that they do not leak. I am also looking for recommendations on where to get the replacement parts.
Here are some pics of this disaster:

What's the best way to get all this gunk off?

How do I ensure I get a water-tight seal in this corner?

Same here; how do i seal this?

Does the trim and retainers I need come with an adhesive seal on it? The ones I took off did, but I'm not sure if they are needed. I would greatly appreciate any and all advice!
Thanks,
Elliot
I've replaced the seals on my coupe and it's MUCH easier. Start with a low setting- Don't overheat it, just get it warm enough to easily scrape off. This WILL take time and patience as it's a bit tedious but it's not that bad.New weatherstripping (suggest OEM - yes expensive), not the cheaper aftermarket stuff) which will have the sealer already on it. You may need to add more like this I'm not familiar with the z06 weather stripping, but it's not hard to do. Also suggest disassembling the interior and testing for leaks after you put it in, by sitting in car with someone aiming hose at repaired area.
