Default Best block for swap??

So I want to go to a 6.0 boosted motor in my C5. Being new to the lsx world I need some informative advice. From what I have gathered so far I should go with a lq9 truck motor and use the 317 heads. My intake/accessories will swap over to the motor. I'll have to do a tune. Is this info correct? Can someone straighten me out if this is incorrect. What other headaches will I have to deal with if I do this swap?

Welcome to CF.
Fwiw, there is a forced induction section that will likely get better response for this type of thing.

If you're boosting it, no need for the LQ9. Get an LQ4. The 317 heads are a good budget choice too. Get a good spring kit from Brian Tooley.

You will definitely need a tune. What part of the world are you in?

Depending on the year of the engine you get, most things will swap right over, such as intake and accessories. The block will bolt right to your current bell housing too.

What are you planning to use as a provider of boost?

Good luck with your project!

Not sure exactly yet what I'm going to be putting on it. Debating turbo or supercharger still. I was looking more for insight on a block not so much the FI side of it right now. Need to build a 750hp rated block before I worry about that. Just need to know what I can use from my ls1 and what if anything I'd need extra to make it work in the car. So what I took from that is the bell housing is a direct bolt in I know the fast intake will bolt on. Is there anything that I'll have to change going to the lq9 but using the ls1 intake. Sensors etc..

And what year block would be easiest for interchanging parts?

It'll have all the same sensor, though they might be in different locations requiring a possible harness extension.

You can use the stock crank. But, for that power level, you should get some rods and pistons.
That will hold up to 1000+.
Since you will be using the stock block and crank, look for an 04 or older block. (I believe). As this will have a 24X reluctor wheel.
There are others on here a lot more knowledgeable about the different blocks and years and what's your best option.
Try LS1Tech or YellowBullet as well. There's a ton of info out there and you are not the first to try this type of swap.
