Default 03 C5Z tune up

I've always worked on my own cars including my 300X I built from the ground up and swapped a 2jz into...but now that I own a beautiful daily driver C5Z now,Americas Ferrari 😀 I'm very careful about everything and want everything perfect and done right...

So is a tune up on this thing easy enough for me not to screw something up or should I just pay a Vette guy to do it? Like I said before I'm new to these cars...and I'm very careful with it lol... I'd like to know what plugs, wires and oil you ZO6 guys recommend? The cap says Mobil one but what do you guys like? Thanks

Buy the standard GM Irridum plugs and purchase some GM Performance RED wires.

They are VERY good quality wires and fit perfect and last a very long time. They look good too.

They reuse the metal shields on the plug boot and snap firmly into the coil tower.

There approx. $65 at CULTRAG Performance. Call Gene Culley or Patrick.

...and yes, Mobil-1 5W30. If the car has over 100K miles you might consider O2 sensors for a "tune up"

with Bill Curlee - AC Delco Iridium plugs and GMPP red wires will work very well in the car. I have always used Mobil 1 5W-30 fully synthetic oil in my cars and not had a problem.

The other things to consider, depending on what the maintenance history has been, is to get all the fluids changed. The coolant is good for 5 years or 100K miles and the brake fluid, if original, should be flushed and filled. After I bought my C5 I went ahead and had those two things done as well as my tranny and diff fluids changed just to have a starting point on maintenance for my peace of mind. It really was not that expensive. I did not do the PS fluid, and that is something I plan to do this year.

One last note - check your belts and hoses too and replace if they show signs of wear.

I agree with everything that's been said.

You may also want to consider doing the "Ranger method" (do a search for it) to clean up the clutch fluid (it's DOT 3). It's not as good as a complete flush but it helps.

Changing plugs and wires will always help. When you said tune, I think about a nerdy kid with a lap top and a mustang dyno. That's a tune on a Corvette.
