Sorry I posted this earlier on a thread, but I need an answer quickly. Will a Torque tube from a 99 auto fit on a 2000 automatic. I got a good price on one 40 minutes away and wanna ****** it up tomorrow. Ad says 97-04, but on here I believe I heard some differences. Thanks!
YES! It will fit. NOTE.. I would still take it apart and inspect the rubber couplers BEFORE you reinstall it!!!
Thank u, I will inspect. I did notice that there are differences in the parts inside of the torque tube between 1999 and 2000, but it will fit overall. Meaning the torque tube bushings inside are a different size than a 2000. So if I had to replace the bushings I'd have to order 99 bushings and I believe there is a big C retainer clamp/clip on the 2000 and newer. When I did talk to the local corvette shop, the guy told me, most of the time it is manual trans that eat up the bushings and people that race, but I'm not looking to do this twice, so I may just replace them anyway. The car had over 90,000 when I got it so maybe someone before me was tuff on it, or just a failed part for whatever reason? IDK.....I'd love to get the poly ones, but I can't afford them, I drive like an old man anyway, I am usually very lenient off the line, but I have no problem breaking a 100 when I get going. I couldn't ask for a better smoother ride and for this to just fail in a matter of 15-20 seconds without warning is really odd, usually u get some symptoms when something like this goes. This is really puzzling me.

The bushings inside the TT are the smaller 10 mm bolt ones. Yes, you will have a large C Clip to remove. NO,,, The bushing crack and decay due to AGE. My buddy has a 2000 A4 coupe and his were cracked. He doesn't race. The bushings that you want to get are the real live GM Replacement bushings!! DO NOT get the Dorman parts counter ones. They SUCK!
What ever TT that you use, get the GM OEM bushings for it.
