I put about 2200-2400 miles on my 2001 coupe last summer without a glitch with the pressure sensors. This year, I installed a set of aftermarket rims on the car.
A couple of times this year, I've had the DIC read "service tire monitors" after going over an expansion strip in the road. The first time it happened, the message deleted itself after the car sat in the lot at work and I started it up to go home. It happened again today, again while on the way to work, so I shut the car down as soon as I hit the lot and then restarted it, but the message stayed on. I hit "reset" on the dash with no effect.
Has anyone else had this problem crop up, and how did you resolve it? Thanks.
Re: Not another tire pressure sensor question!!?? (leadfoot4)
I've had that happen to me quite a few times already in the past 2 years. The sensors are very flakey. :smash:
I even had the right rear replaced once, but it still acts up occasionally. In fact, it is usually off by 2 lbs from actual when it is giving a reading.
I've quit worrying about it and just ignore it when it comes on. It eventually goes away after the next time the car is started. (another GM bug... :smash: )
Re: Not another tire pressure sensor question!!?? (MySea5)
Thanks for the feedback, guys. I haven't tried reseting them via the procedure, as it has reset itself after the car sits while I'm "in the office" and then I restart in the afternoon.
It's just frustrating when the car doesn't act like it's supposed to. I understand that when you start doing the serious mods that you might have to do some "tweakin' & tunin", but the tire sensors are OE stuff !!
