Where is the skip shift located and how is the best way to access it?

If by skip shift you mean the Computer Aided Gear Selector, or CAGS, it's location is on the driver's side of the transmission and is easily accessible by lifting the rear of the car. Try to do this when the car is "cold" as there is exhaust piping in close proximity.

Also, one you install the eliminator, be sure to zip tie the wires and the eliminator to a secure spot so it does not have any chance of coming in contact with a hot surface.

You can also disable it through the control computer. If you are planning any sort of tune, disabling the CAGS is just a matter of checking a box.

Most tuners charge $50 or less for a simple re-set of computer options (including fan turn-on temps, simple timing and tuning settings, speedometer reset or re-calibration for larger tires etc etc). There are also simple hand-held tuning aids that purport to change the CAGS as well as many of the other settings above, but these tuners cost $125 or more.

Just for the fan turn-on temps, you owe it to yourself to get a reset, and the CAGS elimination is sort of a bonus :-) My guy also set me up to run regular gasoline with no problems and very little loss of performance. You'd be surprised at how many issues can be addressed with a simple non-dyno type of tune/re-set.

I totally agree with the tune... I would have Chuck CoW tune my car again JUST for the THROTTLE RESPONSE fix he does... it is an amazing difference in the feel and driving of the car... LOVE IT!

You can also get a fuse with the resistor added that just plugs into the fuse box. Or make your own with a 59 cent resistor.

I had a tune done. For $150, the fans come on at a cooler temperature, the CAGS is deactivated, and I got 25 additional horsepower. Looked like a good deal to me.

I found the ideal solution after a while...If I'm driving slow enough for the CAGS to activate I just shift first to third, it's perfect for how I was already driving, and I can save the money and effort for something else.
