Cant speak for the c5 piece, but I put POS Ralco shifter in my 370z and had to modify it because the rubber they used it let the upper shaft move and rotate, totally ridiculous piece of trash that thing was, but maybe the c5 piece is good...When I saw/felt the sheer quality of the MGW, it honestly fells like the most precisely made item on my corvette now...

I sure didn't want to spend 350 plus for a shifter but my common sense approach to things told me a stick with a ball on the end wasn't the whole fix !!! Then I found the MGW site which is the whole assembly. After I bought it I was blown away with the workmanship and called to talk to George from MGW. I found out he has his own machine shop and they do all the work in house !!! I have never looked back, having a 6 speed car it's the one mod you use all the time !!!!!
IMO, unless you are tracking the car, don't get a solid shaft (vibe and buzz!) shifter, but rather a rubber-isolated one like the stock, the C6, and B&M. In addition, shifting effort with aftermarket shifters is primarily functions of 1) shorter shaft length, and 2) detent tension in the tranny.
Search for the mod that involves putting simple washers under the detent actuator (called the "Anti-Venom" mod after the inventor). And forget the dam Hurst-style cue ***** - get a taller Euro-style leather shift ball that's elongated (Nardi and other brands). They may say they don't fit our 9/16" threads, but almost all have a 9/16" solid rubber insert. Leave out the middle-man threaded adapter and just screw that rubber mammy-slapper right onto the shifter threads. Solid and secure, taller, and leather and rubber isolates vibrations and shakes even more.

Been running the Ralco for years and I love it! No noises, shifts How I want it too, installed with no issues and prob has one of the shortest shifts out there (Aka its gonna be slightly notchy but they all are). I also love the **** it comes with.
Here's another vote for the C6 shifter. I love mine. I had the B&M shifter prior to this and I just found that it took too much effort to shift gears. They were short and solid shifts but just too much of a pain in the a$$ for everyday use. The C6 shifter is the perfect compromise between a full short-shifter set up and the stock C5 shifter.

MGW + anti-venom mod (1 washer for me) and never look back!
