Hey guys, i did some reading before I decided to post. Odd issue going on with my recently purchased c5. So far, this issue has happened twice.
I'll be going down the road and suddenly traction control active is displayed on the dash and I can't rev past 2,000rpm. This has happened on the freeway and nearly caused me to wreck. Mind you, I am not out of control when this happens. I'm simply cruising along on a straight line. If I turn off traction control, the issue goes away. My car is a bone stock automatic car, 99 model year, no active handling.
My research shows that the PO has a smaller tire out back than stock. 275/35/18 is what is currently on there. For whatever reason he decided to mount the tires himself and broke the TPMS on front right. Also, there are no wheel weights so it appears they'll have to be balanced.
I pulled the codes from the dash and all are showing H aside from one C code pointing toward the FR TPMS. I have cleared the codes and nothing has returned.
Does anybody have an idea what's happening and where to troubleshoot from here?
Good to know. I believe stock has a 40 series tire out back and the car currently has a 35 series out back. Overall wheel/tire height is the same on the front and back. Sounds like I might need to get a new set of rear tires. That may be the excuse I need to run some 305s!
I'll be having the OE wheels widened out back to 18x11. I'll run a 305/35/18 which has a height of 26.1 inches as opposed to 26.6 stock. That'll be about a half inch taller than the height of the front wheel and should alleviate my issues.
