Default Is it possible to install c5 headers through the top only?

So i am planning on doing my header install in a few weeks and i have ran into a small problem i can only get the car about 15 in in the air and from what i read i need about 20in to install the headers from the bottom. I was hoping to get away with just putting my car on 8in ramps and doing the install from the top only but from what i have read it seems the drivers side needs to go in from the bottom.

Also does anyone have any good instructions on header install for the C5 the only one i can find is the ls1 tech one. Also the headers i am installing are obx long tubes

I'm thinking you'd have to remove the alternator, steering shaft and master cylinder to go in from the top.
I had to raise my car about 27" from floor to belly IIRC.

What i mean is dropping the headers in from the top instead of going up through the bottom of the car.

Just go to harbor freight and buy a low profile jack and 6 ton jack stands for $120. You'll use them for other projects. They are both quality items.

If you can afford long tube headers, you can afford to buy the minimum amount of tools to install them.

Thats not the problem. I have all of that but i live on a slanted driveway that makes it dangerous to lift my car too high in the air.
http://corvettec3.ca/ramps.htm this is starting to look like a good option though

that's what I mean I have not seen any instructions for coming in the top ??? I looked at that option when I did mine !!!(not for very long) you still have to have the car raised to do all the other stuff so what is a few more inches ??? My ramps put the car up 21 inches floor pan to the floor and had no issues with that height !!! (plenty of room)

If your driveway is slanted that much it might not be safe to use axle stands. You have a pic?
Ramps should be good so long as you don't run over center of the front bottom of the ramps.

I don't know what your driveway looks like but if you ramped in the front and drove your car from the garage it might be close to level ?????

Thats gonna be a negative most houses in south fl dont have garages like mine. The incline is definitely steep enough for it to be unsafe along with it being paverbrick and uneven since its 20 years old. we if michigan wasnt so dam far i would take you up on the offer. I was actually planning on building a set similar to yours http://corvettec3.ca/ramps.htm from here.

what kind of headers?... my old lg 1 3/4's could be done from the top... the passenger side was a piece of cake, driver side would take a little more fuss but it could be done... my new lg 1 7/8's is a different story, no chance those will go in from the top... you can give it a shot and if it doesn't work out then go get a new jack/jack stands and raise it up higher

I installed my Texas Speed headers from the top and it wasn't hard. Passenger side slid right in, but the driver side took some work. I had to loosen the motor mount and raise the motor to get it in.

I know a lot of the A.I.R stuff is on the driver side. I removed that stuff and it frees up some space over there.
