Default Cruise Control Disengages

Hi Everyone,
I'm a first time Corvette owner, I am fairly mechanically inclined.
I am having an issue with my Cruise control disengaging, it does it randomly, it also throw a TPS error and Stability errors too all at the same time, I'm hoping its not the body control module. If I hit the reset button the codes do clear.

Any thoughts?

You have to pull and post the codes from the DIC. Could be many different things. My bet would be the SWPS is starting to go bad. The codes for that is C1287 and/or C1288. But without the codes, it is just a guess.

YEAR C5 and DTCs will surely let us help you resolve what's bad.

90% probability that you have a misadjusted BRAKE and or CLUTCH switch. (if you have a MN6 car)

If the brake or Clutch is pressed while the CRUISE is energized, it WILL DISENGAGE. If the switch is not adjusted properly, it will do it on its own randomly.

STRONGLY recommend that you read the DTC as SOON as it happens and read them "BEFORE" you turn the ignition OFF!!!

Reset the codes and take the car for a drive. Check for any codes before you turn off the car. I bet the C1287 and/or the C1288 will still be there. That will be the SWPS. The part # is 88965543 and they cost around $65.00.

Lots of other codes and the LDCM and RDCM codes are pointing to a battery condition. Possibly the battery was disconnected/reconnected or possibly a bad or weak battery or loose or corroded connections at the battery or starter at an earlier point in time.

Suggest that you clear all the codes that you have. Info on doing that in the video link above.

Then drive the car a bit (until the cruise disengages or the TCS or AH light illuminate on the dash if possible). Then pull over and pull codes again BEFORE you shut off the engine. To pull codes with the engine running use the reset button to clear all messages displayed in the DIC and then pull codes as normal. Post the codes and the H or C or HC that follow. Probably most of the previous codes will not come back. You woll need to address those codes that do come back
Thanks for the response, I'll do that now.

Mine was doing that when I had a low tire. The balance between front and rear pressures and tire diameters that result from a low tire seems to be pretty sensitive. Mine would cut off at just as yours does, but more typically at around a 70 mph-ish setting. Airing up the tires correctly seems to have fixed it.

Where is that located?
Is it an easy repair or an entire weekend thing?

I just finished the HUD pivot pin repair, and that took All day Saturday UGH!

Yeah, I had the battery out and on a charger all weekend while I was pulling the HUD out and repairing it.

Thanks again

The SWPS is located on the steering column where it enters the firewall. It is a green and yellow color. You have to pull the column to replace it. There is plenty of info here on the forum on how to do it. It takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to do. I had a corvette mechanic friend of mine replace it because I did not want to mess with the airbag. You can do this at home if you follow the how to's on how to do it.
