Default Non-FFS fuel system

I am looking for a detailed explanation of the early (non-FFS) 2003 fuel system. I was unable to find one through the search function. Does anyone out there have a detailed description they could point me towards?

Thanks!

Most likely, but I was hoping for an on-line reference for now. My GM manual is still buried in the storage container somewhere after recent move.

The layout and function description of the system. Nothing specific. I have the service manuals, but haven't unpacked them from storage....and it will be a while before I get them unpacked.

It isn't important, as if I were working on the fuel system. I was just hoping someone had a handy link to such a description, like the the one for the FFS system. I could not find one and was wanting to know what the differences in plumbing and function were between the two.

I appreciate your response, but no need to go to great lengths. I am just contemplating future projects.

Thanks!

Early version ('97 to '03E):

Late version (03'L to '04):

Note: '97 and '98 are the ONLY two years with two fuel lines (supply and return) attached to the fuel rail on the engine, since the fuel pressure regulator is attached directly to the fuel rail. Thusly, they are the ONLY 2 years that use a conventional style fuel filter. Beginning in '99 (through '03E) the fuel pressure regulator and its return line, is inside the fuel filter and (as shown in the first picture) there is only a single line attached to the fuel rail.
