clutch
I found that shifting issues in the C5 are many little things that add up to a very notchy crappy shifting car not just the clutch...that said here is what I have done to make our car shift like budda...
Anti-Venom mod... it is simply adding a washer to the detent and it works.
Trans fluid changed to Amsoil Torque Drive
Multiple Modified Ranger Method Clutch fluid cleaning...
Switched to Lucas Full Synthetic DOT 4 fluid...
Upgraded to a C6 Z06 shifter...
Neutral/ shift rod adjustments might need to be made...
After doing ALL these things our car shifts VERY nicely...

thanks for the reply. I recently changed all fluids including clutch. I'm not really thrilled with the short throw shifter. I'm just not sure how long a clutch lasts on a c5. The previous owner made some simple changes to the car which can be undone.
Depending on what aftermarket shifter you have... if it's a Hinson, MGW you will have NO trouble getting rid of it for something you like better.

You need to pull your codes and post them... at the very least get a handle on what they are going to tell you is wrong and how much your going to get bent over...you need KNOWLEDGE to protect yourself, or you may wind up paying more in repairs than you did to buy the car...

The CLUTCH job is one that they BETTER know what the heck they are doing or you will be on the forum frantically trying to figure out why your car vibrates and after spending $3000 it still doesn't work right... then Bill Curlee will post some really cool stuff about what they didn't do right and try to help you figure out how to get it fixed...JUST a word of caution, just because it says CORVETTE on the door of the shop you BEST know exactly what you are getting into...

just going for opinions. the care is self healing that is, the code goes away when you turn the key off and start again. that's not right. it's one of the best shops in town and highly trusted. nobody turns a wrench until i can say for sure what the problem is. the other option is a chevy dealer. not a good one for me.

Clear them... then go for a drive and PULL the CODES BEFORE you kill the engine... then post them here
The car has a bad left rear wheel and pinion bearing. The codes translated to a wheel sensor and something in the steering column (pardon my lack of technical expertise) While it's apart i'm having the clutch and related items replaced. Thanks for the input.
