Default Timken or SKF bearings?

I am about to pull my engine for a swap. I figure this would be a good time to replace the Torque Tube bearings and the rubber couplers.

I have found what I think to be the correct parts. Has anyone used either of these?

TIMKEN 9108PP BALL BEARING 40X68X15MM 2 SEALS 0.43 LB
TIMKEN 9107PP BALL BEARING 35X62X14MM 2 SEALS 0.32 LB

or

SKF USA INC 6008 2RSJEM BALL BEARING 40X68X15MM 0.463 LB
SKF USA INC 6007 2RSJEM BALL BEARING 35X62X14MM 0.37 LB

Also, i have read some things about a "slinger" on the TT. I'm not sure what this is, and do I need to replace it?

Car is a 2001 6 speed with 220k miles.

Flip a coin. Just two different (good) bearing companies.

Yes. Old one usually gets mangled getting removed.

I went with SFK - there are some threads pointing out there is no reason to go with them unless you race or track frequently.

/shrug.

Don't forget the fastener kit!!!

For what it's worth I spend some time in the JEEP forums... we have a 83 CJ7... and the JEEP folks REALLY test bearings... the word on the trail is that SKF and TIMKEN are both good choices.

I agree, they are.

derz_vette: SKF makes bearings of all types for all sorts of applications.

They are ALSO well known on these boards for a particular Heavy Duty (front) wheel hub bearing assembly that is much more expensive than the standard Timken or AC Delco wheel hub bearing. This particular SKF hub bearing assembly was developed for road racers, etc. where the car sees a lot of heavy, hard, cornering forces where the front wheel bearings see a very heavy loading.

Perhaps that is what you saw being referred to. Sometimes people who don't know, just assume that anytime they hear "SKF" they automatically think of the heavy duty wheel hub bearing.
