New project, when I turn the key the steering wheel stays locked, car starts and runs, service column lock message appears on the Dic.
I have searched through the forum and found the lmc5 is one solution for the column lock issue. But before start buying parts
What else should I be checking here?
Is it the CLR?
How do I test if the lock mechanism itself is faulty?
I see lmc5 sells an unlocker, to be honest I'm terrible at reading diagrams which wires would I need to jump in order to manually test the lock mechanism?
Going to go play around with the unlock method provided thank you! replacing the starter is the next mission, I'm sensing the ground mentioned might be causational to some of these electrical symptoms as the previous no start on turn key did persist as anticipated by a few users. Learning to keep faith in you corvette experts =) Thank you again
Now I'm looking at the BCM pinout here and reading that I'm dealing with;
C15
LT GRN
1601
Steering Column Lock Signal
A6
PPL
1604
Steering Column Unlock Feed
A8
ORN
1603
Steering Column Lock Feed
I am I to understand correctly that supplying power to purple unlocks, power to orange locks, and green is the position sensor of the locking mechanism?
Ok so.... With the car running 13.7v I attempted to jump from the steering column as you suggested. While there was small sparking on the leads and what sounded like very small clicking the pin did not retract or deploy with power supplied to ether purple or orange. Which leads me to believe the motor itself is shot.

So why aren't you installing the LMC5 and be done with this ??????
So I could make my own theft deterrent by creating a switch at the green wire that could cutoff fuel at 2mph, hide it somewhere. Seeing that the steering wheel is going to be disabled anyways.
Unlocked! Ended up prying off a peice of the plastic gear housing and blasting it full of wd40, 3hrs of to my 100 neighbors what looks like furious ************ of the steering wheel.
I'm still going to purchase the lmc5 and nothing you say can stop me.
However anything over 2mph will stop me, while this is shipping I will be designing my own diagnostics tool that will determine whether or not the steering wheel is in fact locked or unlock and selling it on this forum for the low cost of 25$ plus s&h.

Can I preorder the diagnostics tool... maybe you could come up with some kind of tool also that will tell me when to put gas in the car...
Oh yeah... congrats on the success of your sexual assault of your steering wheel... is that illegal?

There is help...the CLA! Column Lock Anonymous it is a group of C5 owners that have experience CL and lived to tell about it...others have traumatized their C5's as well, trying desperately to "free" the wheel of steering, so they could explore the world via the ride of their dreams.
Some have suffered great damage at the hands of frustrated owners going as far as taking grinders to the locking demon.
MANY wasted cans of alcohol have been consumed during these wrestling matches from hell...
I'm so sorry you had to deal with this dreaded, evil, attack. If you need any further consoling, rest assured that the CLA is waiting with open arms to give you the support you need...
Being the treasure of CLA if you will simply send a cash donation of $100 you could be a LIFE TIME member and recieve your official CLA membership pin... which resembles the LMC5 module .... you can pin it to the your lapel or on your favorite cap...
had a date planned tonight was thinking I could just put it in neutral, maybe coast around a little bit. You know maybe rent a movie from a red box, calculated the trip time....2 hours.... Just down the street ... Couple blocks away. "Hey baby want to go for a park, right here" "350hp hear that.... Yeah sounds
fast huh"
