I have a 2004 C5 with a Borla exhaust and K & N filter. I have had this P0300 code on and off for a while now. Car has 74,000 Kms ( CDN car ) We changed the serpentine belt and pulley. Changed the spark plugs and wires. The car has a new left side gas tank done under recall. The car looses a slight bit of power on acceleration and also while cruising on the Hwy. The light does not stay on nor does it flash. It will go back off in time. The car also has a chirping sound, hence we changed the serpentine belt and the pulley still this sound, it is only at start up and goes away after the car warms up. Any help would be appreciated
Thank you
Shade tree mechanic trick...at night or in a dark garage, start car and look for a possible spark..around the plugs, wires or coil packs.
Thanks runner 140. I will definitely do that for sure. The concern at the moment is the chirping sound from under the hood combined with the P0300 code so we will be looking at your suggestion tonight 😊

Check your crank damper for any wobble at all. These cars are notorious for dampers going bad.

another thing to check relating to the misfire code is the wiring harness where it runs behind the intake manifold on the drivers side... there is a metal bracket that the harness is known for rubbing against and over time it can chafe the wires and cause injector/coil issues... every time I remove an intake manifold I leave that bracket off

Thanks neutron82. I have read about that and will definitely be checking that out. Never thought much about it but now I'm starting to wonder if it might be that. The car runs and rides great other than this chirping sound and this darn CEL 😏
