Oil Leak
The dealership added die in with my oil change last week and will check this week to determine where the leak is originating from (hopefully).
If it's the oil pan gasket what's the procedure to replace the gasket? Time consuming and expensive? The dealership hinted that the engine would have to be removed. Seems far fetched-cross member I would understand.
And should it be the gasket are there any other components like any sensors etc that I should replaced during this same gasket work?
66K on this '02. Feedback would be welcome-thanks in advance for response.

I would replace/relocate it and see if that was the leak before I let the stealership TOUCH it...

But then... I wouldn't let the stealership touch it anyway...

The oil most likely is coming from the up high on the back of the engine. The MOST COMMON source is the OIL PRESSURE SENSOR.It splits where the metal (BRASS) body meets the plastic top of the sensor. Get a bright flashlight and an INSPECTION MIRROR and look at the area where the sensor screws into the block. If there is ANY oil there,,, that's most likely the problem.

The oil pan gasket can be changed without removing the engine. You would have to either remove the cradle or just lower it for clearance to get the pan down. Either way the motor has to be supported from above while doing the job.
I removed my motor from the top for an oil leak and some other work and it was not too bad a job.
Good luck with your repair.
