Default GM Techs, Yaw sensor at -0.9 degrees while level

RPO JL4 equipped. It is at 2.4xx V so it isn't at 0 degrees but it does swing around this value to positive and negative degrees while turning left/right. Is this acceptable or a problem? I was checking out a SWPS issue I'm getting and one of the questions is to look for 0-5 degrees. I am getting -0.9 degrees obviously. if -0.9 was acceptable i would figure they would word it to be within -5.0 to 5.0 degrees.

Thanks much

Dave

2000. As far as I know all Y code cars w/ JL4 same Vref and 0-5V output. 0Vdc is 0 degrees/min in/output of YAW sensor. Just need to know if -0.9 deg is acceptable as I cannot find the spec in my manual. I'm fairly sure the range of this sensor is -75 to 75 degrees/min so -0.9 is insignificant so it may just be poor working in the service manual.

Thanks
Dave

I don't know for sure, but the system does calibrate to the sensor and that is a pretty minor offset. If the manual says 0-5* is acceptable then I would think that would also include -5* because it makes little sense for the acceptable range to be positive only. Or, the real range is -2.5* to +2.5*.

That is what I think but why not just write -5 to +5 degrees to avoid confusion. And if it did calibrate each startup then it would display 0 degrees at whatever the given voltage is I would think. Similar to the SWPS startup setting 2.5V to 0 analog degrees.

Anyone have any insight? There has to be ONE GM tech in here who would have a bit more detailed knowledge than me on this.

It appears in the diagnostic flow chart for a yaw rate sensor malfunction that this is within the specified range for that sensor. It looks like the range should be 2.35-2.65v

There appears to be only one yaw rate sensor related error code (C1282) which is where I got this information.

Right I was wondering though if there was supposed to be a centering/calibration cycle like the SWPS. Whereas 2.5V is 0 analog degrees. So if the computer would detect no yaw based on input from other sensors it would make that voltage 0 deg. for that ignition cycle.
