Default C5 Dependability by year help info needed

Perhaps this is a better place for me to start this thread instead in the Ask Tadge forum area. Not sure if this is correct to ask, but I'm in the market to buy a C5, as that is what I can afford at the moment, perhaps a C6 2005-2007 model, but that would be pushing it.

Which C5 model from 1997-2004 would you say had the best overall mechanics/electronics with the less problems and bugs?

I would pick a 2002 or EARLY (pre-FFS) 2003.

Last year (2004) of the C5 model is considered the best buy.

Just my 2 cents here,

Theres already news about the c8 vette and you're asking about dependability on a 5th generation model.

It's 2016 now. And we're on the 7th gen vette.

You really can't go wrong with any c5, best thing to do is inspect and look at the car fax. Make sure all recalls were taken care of.

Dependability on any vehicle and a c5 in your case will fall on the owner. Motor and trans is the biggest part and most expensive items. I heard some years had piston ring issue and was covered under warranty.

It does fall under the owner whether they took car of the vehicle or not. When I bought my c5 from the dealer, they told me they made sure they sell a car that's good working order.Doesn' mean it's perfect. I had issues after I got it home.

Like buying a old house, never know what can go wrong.

Best thing to do is a complete inspection.

I would say the '98 was the best. All the rest are just mistakes.

Hi guys, just adding this link to the list, thanks again for all the info.

BTW, would you say the info in this link is accurate?

Also, if I would get a 98-02 Corvette with under 60k miles, well kept condition, would the seats and/or ride feel comfortable or would it be a harsh ride?

Yes, as you read within the link, and in various threads here... the 2004 all day long.
