I'm thinking about installing Flowmaster 80 Series (525801-L/R) mufflers on my '98. For those of you that have used them, what are your thoughts on quality, fit/finish, sound. I'm not looking for real loud mufflers, better sounding and quality.

I had Flow Masters on my '89 C4 coupe that I mostly autocrossed - but was street legal for fun - and the noise was tremendous. Resonance is a major problem. My wife and most of our neighbors could hear me coming 2 to 3 blocks away. And at around 1500 - 1800 rpm you cannot hear yourself think inside the car, let alone carry on a conversation.
I'd think about what your driving needs are before installing these. The construction and fit are about a 7 (on a scale of 1-10). I run Corsa Indy's on my 2001.
I HAD flowmasters on my 98 when I bought it, noticed internal rattling when we would be driving. Called Flowmaster, they responded with the 1 year warranty thing, kind of figured with mufflers that cost $200 ea they might back their product but it was not so. Kind of sad too, because I liked the way they sounded, no interior resonance, deep rumble. Decided to replace with Borla Stingers(lifetime warranty). If I had to do it again I would go with the GHL system and no resonance. The Stingers get kind of loud at 1600 RPM in an Automatic.

I have the new style flowmaster cat backs and I love them. No resonance and a deep low growl at idle. At WOT they say get the f**k out of my way. I don't think the older styles were like this new set up. My 2 cents worth.

Ignore all the posts from people that used the Flowmasters on their C4, because they obviously don't have any first hand experience with the Flowmasters for the C5.:yesnod:
I've had my Flowmasters for over 3 years now and they are still in great shape (the chrome tips are as shiney as the day i bought them). There is little to no resonance under 2500 RPM's.....but after that then they REALLTY come alive.:yesnod: :D

Mine was on a 98, I really liked the sound too bad Flowmaster will not stand behind their product. One year very limited warranty, and for what its worth my muffler guy said it wasn't the first time he has had trouble with them. At $225 a piece why not get the polished GHL system with NO resonance at all(check the post above for info). All though I bought the Borlas, which I like there is some annoying resonance at 1600 RPM thats pretty loud on my Convertible. I just refuse to buy a product that is that much and a the manufacturer won't stand behind, and they are aluminized(very difficult to remove). :yesnod: On an automatic if you don't want interior noise but still want the deep rumble the GHL is the way to go.
