I replaced the stock shifter in my 2004 Z06 with a B&M 45044 and I noticed that the shifter rod moving in the pinch clamp. it rotates and also moves back and forth noticeably. I tried tightening the bolt but no difference. I'm unsure what to do and before I spend what may be a boat load to have it fixed at a dealer, I was hoping to find some help here on the forum. Any help would be appreciated

I just fixed mine up for breaking the clamp. Are you using blue loctite and tightening it to spec? You mean the rod from the shifter is moving? You can remove the clamp to inspect just make sure you wear thick leather/kevlar gloves the tunnel is really sharp. In my thread Neutron suggested use some 10.9 grade header bolts and some blue loctite since his came loose. I plan on doing the same soon.

I would set it up per the service manual so all is aligned and then remove the clamp bolt. You may find it stripped or there may be an issue with the clamp itself. If all is aligned, you can then just replace the clamp/bolt if necessary.
It sounds like something is wrong with the clamp itself and/or the bolt.
Having had a similar problem, what I found when I pulled the clamp bolt was that (a) it was not as tight as it should have been and (b) it had been damaged by the slight movement that was taking place, thus allowing even more movement. Lowes sells a bolt with the right length and thread - hex head not star. Use thread locker and torque to spec - 22 ft lbs as I recall..
While I was in there, I replaced the 4 shift box to torque tube bolts as well, same Lowes hex head bolts with sizable flat washers behind them which seemed to tie the box down a little more solid than before.

Jimmy do you know where to get the new clamp or the part number?
Do you know where to get the pinch clamp? Or the part number? Thanks.

Thanks Bud, I just found that out from a Chevy dealer. The clamp seems like it's tightening but not enough. I was thinking of opening it up a little bit and if I can get some sort of shim in there, it might help compress the rod. Thoughts?
