If the load on the flasher is not high enough then the flasher goes to hyper flash mode. So, if a left turn signal bulb is out only the left turn signal would hyper flash. The right would not hyper flash because all the bulbs on the right are still there and loading the flasher.

Well, I tried to install switchback DRL with a resistor and it still hyperflashed the LED. If you insert the LED in the opposite way the dash lights go crazy. So I ordered a harness to stop that but I cut off the resistor and now all bulbs hyperflash, front and rear when turn signal lever is pressed down. WTH did I do ??

The stock flasher can't cause a single corner bulb to hyperflash.

And yes, if you put LED's in backwards you can get exactly what you saw. When it's in the socket backwards no harness can fix it.

I'm guessing from your avatar and username you are military... so THANK you from one infidel to another for your service ..

Wait for the harness...
It just seems so simple... get an LED bulb plug it in and walaaaaa... nope, not in our C5 ... IT has to be complicated and confusing or it doesn't qualify.

Of course now that I have said that Murphy's Law dictates that when I next drive the car I will have all sorts of issues....
Maybe I missed it but I thought the OP said he had ordered the harness... I assumed he hadn't gotten or installed it yet... hoping this will fix his issues... or that I miss understood and then you will have to bail him out

Well as things progressed I thought I'll start the car and pull the codes from the DIC. Everything is OK now. Very strange indeed. Thanks to all who responded, that's the greatness of this forum. helping one another.

well, that certainly cleared things up, you crack me up... did you order your harness from RadioFlyer?

Yes it's on the way. Also, thank you for your service. i thought I blew up something expensive I'm relieved. Now I'll wait for the harness and do this all over.
