Honestly they do the job fine. A pair of small 6" needle nose vice grips is what I use to remove them. If you want to buy fancy stainless clamps though go right ahead. Just don't replace them with wormgear clamps, they don't apply uniform pressure around the circumference of the hose.

The spring-loaded "Corbin" style hose clamps also have the ability to expand and contract with temperature changes (including very cold temperature climates) unlike screw types that once tightened, are fixed.
There is a great/cheap hose clamp tool that makes changing hoses a snap. Go to Harbor Freight and get one. Learned about it from a YouTube video by "Froggy". It locks, compresses and releases.
I bought the clamp tool, makes short work of removal and installation. I did change the two bypass hose clamps on my 8.1 (other vehicle) only because access with the tool was impossible and a screw driver can easily reach. I prefer the stock clamps for all the reason mentioned in the prior posts.
