Default Grinding noise.

Hello everyone, I was hoping to get to the bottom of the noise the car is making. I recently bought a 04 with 80k miles and the guy who sold me the car failed to mention the clutch was failing, not 100% sure on this but I didnt even notice it till I had paid the guy and got back home. When i went to go look at the car I did test drive it but the guy asked me not to get on it so out of respect I didnt and the car drove fine. So i proceeded to pay him and drive the car over 100 miles back home. Well when I finally got home I decided to see what the car could do only to find out you cant even do one WOT pull with the car because the clutch would stick right away, the clutch is aftermarket he told me and I believe him because it is a lot stiffer then a stock clutch..... so I decided not to be rough with the car till I can pull the tranny and change the clutch, but after a little baby sitting on the car and just taking it for a small cruise this past weekend I noticed a grinding sound. The only condition the car will start doing this is after the car has been driven for maybe five mins (normal driving) and you you fully push the clutch in at a stop and put it into first (still at a stop) it will make a very noticeable grinding sound if I pull the car out of gear and put it into neutral still at a stop the sound will continue for maybe a split second and stop, but as soon as i want to go back in first it will do it again until i release the clutch and put the car in motion then the sound will go away.... it only happens when the clutch is fully pushed in. Could it be the Input shaft being chewed? I check the clutch fluid its clean and full.

NOISES ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO EXPLAIN so,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I strongly recommend that you try to video tape the said issue and when it happens and post it here..

From what I understand from your post, it sounds like the throw out bearing is TOAST or,,,,,,,,,,, your pilot bearing is damaged or both!.

Either way, if the clutch is sticking to the floor, thats a BAD thing.

Do you know if you have the stock OEM Master cylinder??? If you do, I would start there. First, BLEED the clutch hydraulics and make sure that the fluid is fresh and clean. Cheep and easy would be to change the master and see if the sticking peddle resolves..

Does it have a remote bleeder hose??

Bill

I dont have the greatest camera, I plan on pulling the tranny out this weekend to check everything out, I was just thinking of order a monster clutch kit with new pilot bearing, fly wheel ect. Im still no expect on these cars, where would the throw out bearing be located? I do know how to replace the pilot bearing and clutch and might as well order a new master cylinder because I have no idea if it was replaced. I just find it odd for an after market clutch to be wore out at 80k miles. Im just prying the input shaft off the transmission is still good. Best way I can explain the sound is when i push the clutch in and engage into first it sounds like metal to metal grinding so my first thought was pilot bearing and input shaft.
