hey guys, i have a 99 FRC with 62kish miles on it. I did not know my car decided to drink clutch fluid but I found out when I went to downshift and could not after pressing in the pedal.
Now, I am eager to get it back on the road, but if I am having a slave cylinder issue, could you guys kindly let me know what good replacement party I could purchase?
Also, when the pedal went dead, it did not appear to have any clutch fluid in the floorboard. I hear that is common if it was the master cylinder, correct me if I am wrong.
They can leak ANYWHERE! Some have had the line between the quick disconnect and the salve rot out as GM put close cell foam on/around the pipe and it causes it to ROT out.
The slave its self usually leaks as it in a terrible environment. The master can also leak. Usually it does get inside the CABIN and can be see on the fire wall.
You can start by cleaning off the bell housing, refilling and bleeding and see if you can find the trail of fluid.
The master is the least cost and easiest to change. ANYTHING else requires DRIVETRAIN REMOVAL!
IF,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, The master cylinder didn't run dry, YES. If the system had a low leak and all the fluid is drained, you will have to do a complete proper bleed.
If the fluid didn't drain down lower than the QUICK DISCONNECT Fitting, you can separate the QD and depress the check valve inside the QD and bleed just the master cyl.
