I have a 2002 Z06 with 11,000 miles. When I let the clutch out, take a corner, and on rare occasions hitting a bumb I hear a clunk coming from the rear. I checked to see if the exhaust or anything was lose and hitting but every thing is tight and clear. Can this be a CV joint or what else may it be?
Sometimes it's a sway bar link but usually not on a low mileage '02. Could be CV's but usually only when the boot is damaged or when running power adders. One other possibility is the trans mount at the rear of the car.
Bill it's a Clunk ... similar to a thump or thud... but, not as loud as a clink or knock, thud or thwack, might be more of clomp or clump...hell, anyone can recognize that sound

Are you taking your MEDICATION like your suppose to?????????????????
OK,,, OK,,,,, On a more serious note,,,, TRY THIS:
Chock front wheels.
Car in "N" & parking brake OFF!
Jack UP one rear wheel (other rear wheel on the ground) JACK STAND UNDER CAR!!!!!!
Attempt to ROTATE that rear wheel. Rotate the wheel CW & CCW You SHOULD feel resistance to rotation and the wheel should break free with a noticeable resistance to rotation.
Do the same for the other wheel.
While you have a wheel off of the ground, PUSH PULL the wheel at the 12:00 & 6:00 position and see if the rear wheel HUB has any lost bearing movement. Do that to each wheel.
Put the car in P or 1st GEAR. Rotate the wheel and see if you have excessive lash There will be some free play and noise but it should NOT be excessive. Do that for both wheels.
WHILE the car is in the air,,,, grab the rear output shaft inner CV joint and try to shake it. See if there is a LOT of excessive play where it enters the differential side cover. Also see if there is leakage at that area.
Report results..
