Are there any service manuals out there that have close to as much detail as the Chevrolet ones and that are reasonable on price. I am mainly looking for good electrical schematics. I have tried searching google with no real success
Not really, no. You can go for an online service manual for a subscription fee, but if you're talking paper, the best bet is to ebay or search here in the for sale forums. I ended up paying $300 for mine brand new because nobody was selling one for 2003. But you can find one for ~$100 used - if you find it.
You can buy the GM eSI service manuals on DVD for all the model year Corvettes 1997-2004 along with other vehicles. for $50 or less on the 'bay. That's what I used to post schematics or repair procedures when I'm trying to help someone here. It is an older program so to get it to run properly it sets up a virtual machine on your PC and installs the program. The seller I looked at even offered support to help you get it up and running. Search the archives and you will find some info about it. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...e-manuals.html
I have an older version purchased many years ago.
You can also post a WTB thread in the Parts For Sale. Many C5 guys have moved up to the C6 or C7 and don't need the manuals anymore.

I got mine in the C5 Parts for Sale section at a very good price. They are out there for sale but you usually have to be very quick to say you'll take them or someone else will. You might want to post a wanted to buy (WTB) thread stating which year you are looking for.
