Strange Driveline Vibration
Hello All,
I usually don't post much (just use the wealth of knowledge existing on this forum) but I am having a strange driveline vibration I can't pin down. I have a 1999 C5 FRC with just over 100k on it. Just finished up a full fluid flush and noticed a hole in the cv boot. Replaced the cv shaft with a new one (Autozone brand, I know, I know; I was in a rush and needed the part fast), now just 1k miles later I am getting a vibration when the car is under heavy load (high rpms).
It feels as if I am quickly driving over cats eyes when I accelerate hard. At first I thought it was simply the terrible roads here in Detroit but I can replicate it on demand. Got the car up to take a look, and didn't see anything out of the ordinary except for the squished boot on the recently replaced axle shaft (pictured).
Does this look normal? Could a shaft go bad after only 1k miles? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Hoping work on the problem some more this weekend, would like to have the Vette for the Woodward Dream Cruise

That's was my thought. There is a lifetime warranty; however, I don't think I want to chance it with another Autozone cv shaft. Not worth my time to install another just to have it go bad in another 1,000 miles. Guess I'll have to source a genuine part.

The great ones are the old C5's rebuilt. They are getting rare.
I heard that the C6 Z06 ones from 2008 are stronger.
As per the aftermarket this company has good ratings.http://www.ebay.com/itm/131790930483?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Is the INNER CV cup fully seated into the differential AND If you wiggle and pull on the shaft, is there excessive wobble where the inner shaft goes into the differential side cover?
Maybe a bad rear wheel bearing.. Jack it up and do the push pull test on the wheel at the four quadrants.

I did the push pull test when I jacked it up initially and the wheel bearing seems fine. I didn't see excessive wobble in the shaft but I'm hoping to get it up in the air this weekend again and take another look.
