AC Not staying on

If the system pressures are NORMAL, you have an ELECTRICAL ISSUE..
We can sit here and tell you to do all sorts of stuff but in the end, it will cost you a LOT of money trying stuff that may or may not solve the issue.
You have to do or find someone that will do the proper TESTING!

Great selection of tools, testing, kits, etc., and a good resource for parts and advice. Good forum/blog also.

Earlier this summer, my AC didn't want to stay on. Upon further investigation and later a warning on the DIC it turned out my car was running hot. My radiator was plugged. Replaced radiator and AC is fine now.

I had a similar situation in stop-and-go traffic in LA a few weeks ago. Then noticed that the coolant temp was much higher than normal - although not in the red; probably approaching 250*F. Turned out the radiator fins were plugged up.
I purchased a telescoping wand for my compressor at Harbor Freight for about $6, and was able to blow an awful lot of crap out of the radiator and A/C condenser. Now the coolant temps are back to normal, and the A/C has returned to normal, even stop-and-go with ambient temps around 95*F.
Others will advocate that to really clean the radiator, it must be removed from the car and washed with water. My experience suggests that compressed air can do a satisfactory job. Either way, checking this first before paying someone to dig into the A/C system won't cost you much, and your radiator probably needs to be cleaned out anyway...
