Default brake question

I have a 2003 Z06 with 60K miles. Today I was changing shocks to C6Z shocks and when I spun the front rotors by hand they didn't spin freely. It seemed like they were rubbing/grinding on the brakes. is that normal or time for new brake pads?

PS- new shocks equal amazing.

Thanks,'
David

Well, sort of. Your description seems to indicate an issue with "grinding", but they do lightly touch the rotor if you spin the rotor. With the wheel off you can see how much of the pad is left, might want to peek and make sure they aren't worn. I believe the stock pads have wear indicators, which will go metal on metal and make a scraping sound. You will also hear that when applying the brakes while driving.

The brakes do drag on the rotor. The sound they make should be an even, smooth sound and not a grinding. Could just be your description. As stated, it would be worth looking at the pads. It would also be worth taking the time to grease the slide pins. It is an easy and inexpensive job.

My brakes don't "grind", or make any other strange noises, when spun with the wheel off, but they don't spin all that freely......

thanks to everyone for their responses. I would say drag is a better term and the way you guys described it leads me to believe its normal.

Thank you,
David
