Okay, I'm seeing something new and different with my fuel gauge. This isn't the standard "drops from 1/2 to empty and back" problem that everyone usually reports.
My filled up my gas tank before I went on vacation. When I came back two weeks later and took a drive, my gas gauge went from Full to 1/8 from full in the first 5 minutes of driving. It continued going down to 1/2 + 1/8 full very quickly, like perhaps in 50 miles.
After that, it stayed around 1/2 tank for a while, and then went quickly from 1/2 tank down to 1/4 tank (again in like 50 miles).
Now today, it went back UP to 3/8 of a tank left from 1/4 tank... very strange.
So I don't know if this means my fuel senders are going out again (I had them both replaced around 8500 miles ago), or if my DIC is just having trouble guessing the flow rate on the gas.
My car is in the shop for sporadic fuel guage symdrome.....the fuel problem has been repaired in my car not 1K miles ago and the problem came back......I'll tell if they did anything to my car once I get it back.
Well, just got a call about my car.......appartently there are 2 fuel senders and one of them went bad again, so they are going to replace it once the part come sin.......damn fuel senders. :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad  :mad :mad :mad :U :boxing :boxing :boxing
Last year I was hit with the problem twice (gauge reads 3/8th of a tank and then goes to Empty, but there is still 5 gallons of gas in it). This year I've been hit with it four times, once in June, next in August and again last week. On Monday September 9th I picked the car up from the dealer after they claimed that they replaced both left and right side units. Today with the gas gauge reading 3/8th of a tank, I ran out of gas (exactly the opposite of the problem I was having before). I am irate to say the least. I have an appointment at 7AM Monday morning with the dealer. Some heads are going to roll.
Hey all: Other C5 owners have asked me to help get Chevy to correct the fuel gauge problem once and for all. It can be done, with the best shot being a class action. I'd be glad to look into it if people are interested. To start, I am going to need a current C5 owner to be lead plaintiff. Such a person should have had at least two repair attempts under warranty performed by a Chevrolet authorized dealership. It would be best to have such person be from New Jersey or Pennsylvania, but any state should do. The problem must still occur now. Such persons can contact me by email through CorvetteForum.com (LemonESQ@aol.com) or at CKimmel@lemonlaw.com.
As I am involved in the Audi and Mercedes Benz fuel gauge class actions, I am confident the powers that be at GM will hear us, respond favorably, and quickly. You can view our website at Lemonlaw.com to learn about the firm first if desired. Just here to help.
